These are my two favorite kinds of herbs, and the best way to use them is to put them in a container or bowl, cover with a paper towel, and set aside to sprout and grow for a week.

Some people may be confused by the different types of basil, but you can get the absolute best pestos by simply buying the fresh basil that you want. I personally like to find a fresh basil plant in the garden, and when I see one with a bunch of purple stems, I will cut them off to make sure it’s fresh.
